Coach Mike's Screenplay & Movie Review

Fellow writers and movie fans...I think we can all agree that Hollywood has taken a turn towards higher revenues and lower quality films. However, who is to blame? Producers, directors, writers? Remember, the movie business is a business. Let's discuss how to make better films without losing money and let us start with the screenplay. I encourage discussions on novel/comic book adaptation, coverage, funding, as well as want ads. Please post in the appropriate section and be civil at all times.

Private equity is starting to open its mind and more importantly pockets to financning films.

Will this help independent filmmakers with cash flow and starting capital problems?

Thoughts.

Yes, been here. Having been in business prior to the film industry, I focus on what's important to investors and would be loaners...money {ROI- return on investment}.

Keep the budgetary items down to a top sheet, unless asked for a detailed budget. If that's the case, make sure you name isn't on the "salary" section, investors like to think you are working for passion not money.

Concentrate on your projected inflows i.e. foreign pre-sales, tax credits, and projected dvd sale & rental income.

Alternate lending institutions are new good source of capital.
