Coach Mike's Screenplay & Movie Review

Fellow writers and movie fans...I think we can all agree that Hollywood has taken a turn towards higher revenues and lower quality films. However, who is to blame? Producers, directors, writers? Remember, the movie business is a business. Let's discuss how to make better films without losing money and let us start with the screenplay. I encourage discussions on novel/comic book adaptation, coverage, funding, as well as want ads. Please post in the appropriate section and be civil at all times.

I can't believe BloodRayne is auctually a movie. It looks like a movie, sounds like a movie, but smells like a pile of...hold on my phone is ringing.

Ule Boll??? Why Lord, why?

Mark, what you have to understand is, as long as the actors are attached, then it's going to be made. Good, bad or ugly. A shame however.

I noticed that Coach gave Kiss Kiss Bang Bang his blessing, however I couldn't disagree more.

It was botched at the moment the voice over began. This is Mr. Black's way of re-tooling cliche', disguising it from viewers to seem original. I'm afraid it did not work. Val Kilmer is the worst homosexual I have ever seen on film.

Not to be confrontational, but average is average.

Lady, the idea that a voice over can ruin a movie from the out set is ludicrous. You're obviously regurgitating Syd Feld or another writing 101 professor. Rules can be broken as long as the story is good and the dialog pushes it forward, no matter conventional wisdom. If we all followed film making 101 rules Tarantino would have never been.

Bad movies don't get made because of the attachments, at least not most of the time. Blood Rayne is a video game and has a monetary figure attached to its present (or then present) consumer base. However, I do agree with you about it being a shame, the movie that is.

I am three years past writing 101, thank you very much. I guess you will defend Mr. Black's "Long Kiss Goodnight" as well?

I won't defend the movie, as I thought it could have been much better. Have you ever read the script, it's great? Don't answer that...I already know you haven't, because if you have, this point would be moot.

That sp scored him a $1 million dollar sale. Not bad, huh?

Ule Boll is directing a couple more video game adaptations. Isn't that great?

God help us all.
